The Times they are a Changin’…. My favorite speaker company has taken a hiatus…. for a while. NHT… In a changing market and audio atmosphere of this millennium, NHT has stepped back for a bit to reevaluate its position in the market. Something I think most companies should do. The Times they are a Changin’…. I am not sure what my friends Chris and John, founder and owners respectively, have up the preverbal sleeve here…. but… I am fairly certain it will be good. The Times they are a Changin’!
NHT isn’t just a speaker company. Even though they have designed and built, in my opinion, some of the finest looking, sounding and valued loud speakers I have seen in my 30+ years in the audio business. NHT is a family, an attitude and a passion for life and music. All of these fore mentioned attribute’s packaged in little black boxes with some grill cloth and a few drivers inside…. they just kicked ass when it came to audio. Serious Ass! All the way from the stylish Verve, the outstanding Classic Series, NHT PRO and the architectural series in wall and in ceiling products…NHT was like a fine wine… and coming from Napa (or NorCal as John would write) every vintage was awesome. If you were astute enough to purchase NHT speakers… I commend you. You understood the value of good sound and a quality product. If you did not…. well I guess you will have to wait to see what these guys come up with. Everything is HUSH, HUSH…so far. Even though I promised not to “LEAK”… I know nothing!
John and Chris are two of the kindest and most passionate people I have had a chance to be around in my 35 years in the audio business. We were grateful for the time we spent with them in Denver and thankful to have the opportunity to spend some time in NorCal with John. Being a small cog in the NHT family wheel means a lot to us as a company. We will await their anticipated reemergence into the market and welcome them with open arms and open ears. We are certain that whatever they are conjuring up over there in Benicia… that it will be great.
